Year 3 Class Assemblies

07 Jul 2025

Good afternoon/Prynhawn da,
As we approach our Year 3 class assemblies on Friday this week, we’d like to share some key information to help ensure everything runs smoothly.
To prepare for our dress rehearsals, we kindly ask that all costumes be brought into school by Wednesday, 9th July. These need to be in a separate bag with you child's name clearly labelled. This will allow us to run full run-throughs on Wednesday ahead of the final performances.
The performances will take place on Friday, 11th July. Cherry Class (Mr Barton) will be doing their assembly at 9:30am. Willow Class (Miss Burman) will be at 10:45am the same day. We encourage parents and carers to arrive in good time so that we can begin as scheduled. Each performance will last approximately 30 minutes.
To ensure a comfortable experience for all, each child may invite up to three audience members.
We ask that if you do take photographs of the performances, that they only be for personal use - they are not to be uploaded onto social media due to GDPR policies and also we have several children who do not have permission to go onto social media.
On arrival, parents will be welcomed through the Saplings entrance
As always, thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
Warm regards,
Miss Burman, Mr Barton and the Year 3 Children.

Year 5 Performance 🎭📷🥤

04 Jul 2025

Good morning,
As we approach our much-anticipated Year 5 performances next week, we’d like to share some key information to help ensure everything runs smoothly.
To prepare for our dress rehearsals, we kindly ask that all costumes be brought into school by Monday, 7th July. This will allow us to run full run-throughs ahead of the final performances.
The performances will take place on Thursday, 10th July, starting promptly at 1:30 PM. We encourage parents and carers to arrive in good time so that we can begin as scheduled. Each performance will last approximately 30 minutes, and we respectfully request that all guests remain for both performances to avoid disruption and to support all of our wonderful performers.
To ensure a comfortable experience for all, each child may invite up to three audience members.
We ask that if you do take photographs of the performances, that they only be for personal use - they are not to be uploaded onto social media due to GDPR policies and also we have several children who do not have permission to go onto social media.
On arrival, parents will be welcomed through the Saplings entrance. At the door, there will be an opportunity to donate to Noah’s Ark Children’s Charity, a cause we are proud to support. The children have been incredibly excited to have their work represent a charity that we have studied this year. We’re delighted to be joined by Kath Fisher, a representative of the charity, who will be there to show her support for the children. Any donations will be kindly appreciated by the children and the charity.
As always, thank you for your continued support and cooperation. We are so proud of the incredible hard work and creativity our Year 5 students have shown, and we can’t wait to share their achievements with you.
Warm regards,
Miss Williams, Mrs Shields and the Year 5 Children.

Year 5 Performance

24 Jun 2025

Good afternoon,

We’re very excited to invite you to join us in celebrating all the hard work the children have put into our play, The Last (Plastic) Straw. The performance will take place in school on Thursday, 10th July, starting at approximately 1:30pm.

Over the next few days, we’ll be sending out some costume ideas. As the children will be taking part in dress rehearsals during the week beginning 7th July, it would be really helpful to have costumes in by Monday of that week, if possible.

As always, thank you so much for your continued support. We can’t wait for you to see all the fantastic work the children have done!

Diolch,
Miss Williams and Mrs Shields

Stanwell Transition Info

17 Jun 2025

Dear parents/carers,
Please see the attached information from Stanwell regarding several transition events.
IMPORTANT: We will be asking pupils for their lunch choice tomorrow (Weds 18th June) for the transition day on Tuesday 24th June. On the letter from Stanwell, it states that pupils can choose from a Stanwell lunch, packed lunch or a grab bag from Evenlode. We need to know pupils' choices from these three options ASAP to allow our kitchen staff to order food for grab bags. If your child is not in school tomorrow, please email the school office with their lunch choice.
Many thanks,
Mr Francis and Miss Bieri

Urdd Sleepover

17 Jun 2025

Good morning!
I hope all the children have recovered well from their sleepover last week!
As mentioned at the recent Parents Forum, there was an error in the invoice we received from Urdd. This means a refund of £6.70 per child is due.  Unfortunately, our payment system (ParentPay) does not easily allow for direct refunds. Therefore, we plan to deduct the £6.70 from the cost of the first Year 6 trip your child will be going on this Autumn, which will be to Cardiff Castle.
If you would prefer to receive the refund immediately instead, please contact the school office and we will arrange this for you.
Many thanks.

Urdd Sleepover

09 Jun 2025

Dear Parents / Carers,
With just a few days to go until our Year 5 sleepover, please find below the key information to help you prepare. The full information pack previously shared is also attached for your convenience.

CHILDREN SHOULD BRING:

  • Sleeping Bag
  • Night clothes, toiletries and a towel.
  • A change of clothes including a warm jumper and anorak or raincoat.
  • Suitable shoes for walking (trainers will be needed for bowling).
  • Please send your child with a small bag of snacks for Film Night. Last year, several children brought in large amounts of sweets and felt unwell during the evening, so we’d like to avoid that happening again.

Y6 Films Info

14 May 2025

Dear parents/carers
As part of our 'Movement' topic, a main focus is the 1960s, including The Space Race and The Civil Rights Movement. As part of this, we will be watching extended scenes from the films Hidden Figures and Hairspray. These are both PG rated films, but both films contain language indicative of the 1960s. If there are any questions/concerns about this, please contact class teachers.
We have provided links to the official BBFC website, who are responsible for age certificates on films.

  • Please give any medication to Miss Bieri or Mr Francis on the gate. This needs to be in a clear, named bag with instructions on when/how much to administer.
  • Mobile phones are not allowed on the trip so please do not bring these into school at all as there will be nowhere to store them safely.
  • Pupils are not allowed to bring any electronics with them. This includes hair dryers as they are a fire risk.
  • Pupils will bring their main luggage (kit list sent out previously) as well as a packed lunch to eat at Garwnant on the way. Packed lunch to be kept separate from main luggage.
  • Pillows and sleeping bags need to be put into pupils' main luggage if possible (can be attached/tied on if necessary).
  • Pupils must have a water bottle with them.
  • If pupils are taking travel sickness medication, please ensure that we have enough for the return journey. This needs to be given to class teachers in the same manner as other medication (see above).

Year 6 Tuesday Fun Day

02 May 2025

Dear parents/carers,

Next Tuesday, Y6 will be having a fun, relaxing day in school before our exciting trip to Manor Adventure on the Wednesday. As part of this, pupils have chosen to have a ‘film morning’. For this, they can bring in a drink and snack for the cinema vibe! They can also bring something comfy to wear/sit on to watch the film (they will need sensible shoes as well if they are planning to bring slippers!) We will then be venturing outside in the afternoon for a few hours of fun and games in the sun! Pupils can also wear their own clothes on this day. All times of the day, as well as lunch arrangements, will be as normal.

🎶🎶YOUNG VOICES🎶🎶

14 Jan 2025
Hi there. Thank you for your patience with getting this information across to you. We have now had final information from Young Voices to share.

Children are to come to school at normal time (8:45) through the main gate. They are to then walk around to the New Hall where they will see a staff member waiting to greet them. We will be departing at 9:15am.

With the performance nearing, the tickets have now been transferred over to the emails they have been purchased with. Please ensure you have the AXS Ticket App downloaded. You can then accept the ticket transfer. Please be aware that the seating allocations were made by BP Pulse. T-shirts have now been sent home with the children ready to wear for the performance.

Regarding travel sickness – please can we ask that travel sickness medication is taken before the journey. If children need to bring medication for our return from Birmingham, please can this be placed in a clear plastic bag, labelled and with a note for how and when to administer. These must be given to teachers on arrival at school.

Children have been told that they are not to bring any form of technology including mobile phones and smart watches. They are welcome to bring reading books, colouring books etc. Any items brought by the children on the day will be their responsibility. All items should be labelled. On the day of the performance, teachers will send out a Schoop to keep parents updated with timings throughout the day. Any photographs that are taken on the day will be put up at the beginning of the following week.

With regards to bags, we have had a discussion with the children today about what is allowed. We advise:
1 x carrier bag with lunch – that can be thrown away at the services
1 x A4 tote bag/carrier bag with packed tea, snacks and any other belongings which will come into the arena. Unfortunately, it must be this size due to arena regulations. Therefore, rucksacks are not allowed. These will be checked during arrival at the arena.

Many of the questions that we have received from the children have been related to food. We have told them packed lunches need to be simple, i.e. sandwiches, crisps, fruit etc. The rule of thumb would be that any food they bring could be thrown away after finishing eating. With regards to water bottles, please ensure these are not glass, and preferably not metal. There are water stations around the arena that we will use throughout the day.

Please see the attached costume list for our production. Please do not feel that this needs to be followed exactly and that new things need to be bought (i.e. paperboys/girls do not need long brown overcoats)! This is just rough guidance. If your child is a narrator, they will dress as if they are an evacuee. We ask that costumes be in school by Friday 13th December in a named bag. These can then be left in school. If you have any questions, please contact class teachers. Many thanks, Miss Bieri and Mr Francis.

Mobile Phone Incidents

25 Oct 2024

Dear Y6 parents/carers
We have been made aware of several incidents occurring on pupils' use of social media, particularly Messages and WhatsApp. These incidents involve sharing pictures, videos and information about other pupils without consent. Of course, we do not need to remind you of the seriousness of this issue. We would encourage parents/carers to have frequent conversations with children about social media, as well as being vigilant with how children are using mobile phones. These issues are not normally dealt with by school, but they are beginning to affect the friendships and wellbeing of many pupils.
Many thanks for your support with this.

Updates After Half Term

25 Oct 2024

Walking into school from the top gate
All children have been amazing at coming into school and they have settled well into life at Evenlode. After half term, Reception children will walk into school from the top gate on their own. Teachers on the gate in the morning will help the children with this transition.

Lunches
After half term Reception children will be given a choice of a hot dinner or a baguette for lunch. If you would like your child not to have a choice and only have a hot dinner, please can you inform the class teacher.

Have a lovely half term and we look forward to seeing everyone again soon!

Hoodies Information

23 Oct 2024

Year 6 parents/carers,
Please see the below message from Rebecca Ryan and Rachel Debono regarding the leavers' hoodies. Please note that, if there are any questions, please contact Rebecca or Rachel directly.

Hello

We are happy to say that the design of the hoodies has now been finalised and hoodies are available to purchase on the link below.

You will see that there are a number of colour options, and a size chart, on the link. When ordering, the personalisation option is where you include your child's initials. This will be printed on the front of the hoodie (the names of the whole of year 6 are included inside the number 25 on the back of the hoodie). Full names should not be included here, for safeguarding reasons.

The school has asked that hoodies are not worn until January.  Rachel plans on collecting, and taking into school, all hoodies that have been ordered, on the website, by the end of November. Allowing the company time to make the hoodies, this will mean that Rachel will collect the hoodies mid December and will bring them into school before the end of the winter term.

It will still be possible to order hoodies after this date (which hasn't always been the case in previous years), but if hoodies are ordered after the end of November, you will need to arrange collection/postage individually.

There is no obligation to purchase a hoodie - normal Evenlode hoodies can be worn throughout year 6. It is up to each individual whether to purchase one (or more) hoodies.

https://emea01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.knmsembroidery.co.uk%2Fproducts%2Fevenlode-primary-school-leavers-hoodie-2025&data=05%7C02%7C%7Ccbe88e023d5e443da6af08dcf281fbd2%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C638651887311281942%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=K9pwxalA%2Bf7slBOC1yQn0qWPF3NMFe36V6TVtMcaCIo%3D&reserved=0

Happy choosing!

Rebecca and Rachel
