Monster Phonics Parent Information Session.

We are pleased to share the link to this term's Monster Phonics Parent Information Session.
This live, online webinar will guide parents and carers to better understand the teaching of phonics in school. The sessions will run at various times during the day and evening.
 It will also provide examples of how to use Monster Phonics to accelerate early reading skills with some fun and engaging strategies to use at home.

Parent Forum & Friends Meeting

We would love to see more parents join us at our upcoming Parent Forum/Friends Meeting and would be delighted to have a representative from each year group.

This is a great opportunity to:

• Share new ideas for fundraising events
• Discuss school issues and developments
• Help shape future activities and initiatives for our school community
• Meet other parents and work together to support our children

Our first meeting will take place at 4:00pm on Thursday 24^th September in the Conference Room at school. If there any items, you would like discussed at the meeting please email NorthC5@hwbcymru.net

We understand that this time may not suit everyone, so we are very open to suggestions about alternative meeting times. We would also welcome ideas for different venues if that would make it easier for more parents to attend.

Your views and ideas are important to us, and we would love to meet more of you there. Whether you can attend regularly or just occasionally, your contribution would be greatly appreciated.

We look forward to seeing you there!

A quick reminder of meet the teacher 3.9.2026

These meetings for general class information for parents will be held after school tomorrow in your child’s classroom. We appreciate not everyone will be able to attend, but those not at the meeting will be sent all of the relevant information via Google Classroom.

• Reception Class – 2.30 pm (via main door please)
• Y1-6 – 3.30 pm.

If you are attending, please collect your child as normal then proceed to the school hall. Your child will be supervised by other staff in the hall for the duration of the welcome meeting. Collect your child at the end of the meeting from the hall.

School Closure

Dear Parents and Carers,
Due to the extreme heat warning issued by the weather service and the forecast for unprecedented high temperatures, Ysgol Llanfaes will be closed tomorrow, Thursday 25th June 2026.
The safety, health, and well-being of our pupils and staff are always our top priorities. After assessing our facilities and the projected temperatures, we have determined that we cannot maintain a safe and comfortable learning environment inside the classrooms.
School will reopen on Friday 26th June 2026.
We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we prioritise keeping everyone safe.

This has not been an easy decision, but it has been made with careful consideration of health and safety during this period of unusually hot weather.

We presented Camau Bach pupils with their certificates for successfully completing the Balanceability programme. Throughout the course, the children have developed their balance, coordination and confidence while learning essential cycling skills. They should all be very proud of their achievements, and we congratulate them on their hard work and enthusiasm.

Lloyd was proud to share with us the award he received outside of school for his fantastic reading achievement. Well done, Lloyd!

Flying Start

£5 challenge and Market Place

Dear Parents and Carers,

We would like to say a huge thank you for the incredible support shown towards our Market Place events this week, as well as the Camau Bach and Reception Ramble, which have all raised an amazing £1990.98!

We would love for this money to go towards a new playground structure for the children. However, these projects come with a significant cost, so we will continue fundraising and, of course, take the children’s suggestions and ideas into consideration too.

We would also like to thank everyone who attended the Friends Bingo on Wednesday evening. Once again, your support helped raise a fantastic £242.00.

It has been a very busy week to end the half term, and we truly appreciate everything our families and friends do to support us.

We hope you all enjoy the warm weather this weekend and throughout the half-term holiday. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday 1st June for the final half term of the year.

As of Monday 18th May Mrs Parry will return to her mainstream Teaching Assistant position in Year 2, after her secondment to Camau Bach.

Her hard work, patience, and commitment have made a positive impact, and her contribution during this time has been greatly valued by both staff and children alike.

We are delighted to welcome Miss Parry back to Camau Bach on Monday 18th May following her maternity leave. We know many of you will join us in wishing her and her family well, and we are very pleased to have her returning to the school community.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Miss Bailey for acting as setting leader during this period. Her commitment, professionalism, and support have been greatly appreciated by both staff and pupils.

Dear Parent/Carer,

As part of our ongoing commitment to keeping children safe and ensuring they understand how to seek help and support, we are sending home a copy of our Child-Friendly Safeguarding Policy.

This version of the policy has been written in a way that is accessible and easy for children to understand. It explains how we help keep children safe in school, who they can talk to if they are worried, and the support available to them.

The policy is also available on our school website and is displayed around school so that children can access it whenever needed.

As classes are currently taking part in the Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) topic “Changing Me”, we felt this would be a valuable opportunity to revisit the safeguarding policy with children and help remind them of the trusted adults and support systems available both in and out of school.

We encourage you to take some time to read through the policy with your child and discuss any questions they may have.

AFTER SCHOOL CLUB

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to make you aware that there are a number of outstanding payments for After School Club for the end of the Autumn Term 2025.

We kindly ask that any outstanding balances are settled as soon as possible. The school is required to pay staffing and food costs promptly, and timely payments help us to continue running the club smoothly for all families.

Welcome back to Year 4

At the start of the new term, pupils took part in a short introductory activity designed to support reflection, wellbeing, and a positive start to learning.

As part of this, we used a simple “Skittles” word game, where pupils selected a coloured sweet, with each colour linked to a prompt related to dreams, goals, strengths, gratitude, or wellbeing. Pupils were invited to share thoughts such as something they are proud of, a goal they would like to work towards, or something that supports their wellbeing. Sharing was entirely voluntary and pupils were encouraged to contribute only what they felt comfortable with.

The activity aimed to:

• Encourage positive self-reflection and self-awareness

• Promote emotional wellbeing and confidence

• Help pupils think about their goals and aspirations for the term ahead

• Foster a supportive and respectful classroom environment

Thank you very much for your understanding and patience regarding the school closure due to the snow. We really appreciate your support during these challenging weather conditions.

If conditions remain as they are currently, we plan to be open tomorrow. However, with differing weather reports for overnight, I will provide an update should anything change by 7:30am.

Back to school

Happy New Year everyone. I hope you all enjoyed the Christmas break. We are very much looking forward to welcoming the children back to school tomorrow; however, as is always the case during periods of snow and freezing conditions, this does present us with a number of challenges.

My primary concern is the health and safety of our school community. This includes the safety of pupils and families on site, particularly in relation to the school car park, as well as the safety of staff who may be travelling in from areas out of town where conditions may be more severe. As you can see from the photographs below, the school park is currently covered with frozen snow and ice, which presents a significant risk.

As Headteacher, in the morning I will coordinate as many staff as possible to grit and clear the pavement to the left as you approach the school from Beilihelig Road, along with the car park and the main school entrance. However, we are forecast further freezing temperatures overnight, which may affect conditions further.

I will provide a further update as early as possible tomorrow morning regarding the opening of the school
Thank you for your patience and understanding. The safety of our pupils, families, and staff remains our highest priority, and all decisions will be made with this firmly in mind.

Dear Parents,

A huge thank you for all your support in raising an amazing £1,320 at the Christmas Market Place! Your generosity has allowed us to start an annual subscription to the Monster Phonics and Superhero Spelling scheme, as well as provide resources and training for our teachers and teaching assistants. These will all be put into action from January 2026, helping us continue to provide the best learning opportunities for our children.

We will also be working with the Playground Buddies to purchase new playground equipment using the money from the Wheelathon.

YEAR 1 PARENT CONSULATIONS

Dear Year 1 Parents and Carers,

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to let you know that Miss Jarman will be absent from school until after Christmas as she is due to undergo an operation. We all wish her a speedy recovery.

In her absence, Mrs Angel Williams will be teaching Year 1 for the foreseeable future. To ensure continuity and to provide you with an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, I will be available to meet with Year 1 parents for a short 10-minute parent consultation.
